Guest guest
Conversation with a friend this morning. (6 months raw - or 5 - not sure now) As you can see, she was a good listener. I did the talking. It helped to get the 3rd realization which was a biggy for me. Glad I had a good listener. Don't underestimate the power of a good ear... Just give them warning that you need a sounding board. 1. " I realized that I am still 6 pounds over, from where I had been a few years ago when I lost that weight, " (55 pounds) (As soon as I went off Kay Sheppard's food plan [cooked diet] it came back.) 2. " I realized that after loosing that 6 pounds I will be at the weight I was, when I was 9 months pregnant with my first son. I remember getting size 20 dress, then to size 14. (After my son was born and thinking how fat I was AND it's smaller than I am now after loosing 29 pounds in 6 months! " (Ok guys - so I'm still a fatty.. ). I am still 6 pounds over my 9 month pregnant weight. Friend, " Wow that's good you lost the weight now. " " Yea, after my 3rd child I got thinner after feeding the kids and having a full time job. " (Not thinking about eating. I went to a size 11, which is probably a 9 today. Then I started to use speed to keep me from being exhausted. A prescription I got from a gynecologist who gave it to me WHILE I was pregnant with my 2nd child to help me not gain because he said that was the cause of my long labors. I found a druggist who just kept renewing it...no questions.. in Chicago in the 60's) " Thanks for telling me that. " (She already knew the paranthesis stuff I am sharing here with you.) 3. " I just realized while talking to you. I haven't been a 'normal' weight - nor do I even know what it is, without alcohol, drugs, or food addiction? This will be a first. " 4. IF loosing weight is the goal I can do it with any diet or food plan. (dont matter what you call it... the X-plan is good). It will help me loose as long as I can stay on it. After awhile the " addiiction " of cooked food will kick in and wieght comes back, along with some of the emotional ups and downs that it brings from the food, and the poor self-image, and god-knows what else... physical problems for one. (A whole other can of worms... [a saying older than me...]} 5. Loosing weight is not the priorty. Having a rich, healthy life is. I can do this. I want to do this. Cravings are gone. YIPPEE! For those who don't know, I have been learning about raw for about 2 years, mabye a bit longer. Read Harvey Diamond's, " Fit for Life " books... a good start. Started eating fruit in the morning about 1 1/2 years ago, then adding salads for lunch, then an occasional day all raw and now 6 months all raw. That did make the difference in how the weight started to move, then feeling better. Joined several online groups which helped tremendously. I am off my asthma medication, thyroid, still take blood pressure. I know that will go also. I try., but am not consistent with, doing, what I call YAM: Yoga, Aerobics, and Meditation. It is rare that I don't do at least 1 daily and sometimes all 3. My goal is to do all 3 daily. I will let you know when I have arrived at that. Accountability and honesty help on the this life path (for me) The last two paragraphs are more a review for those who have no idea where I've been and for those of you who know me already and have heard this, I thank you for listening. Age 67 and still ticking, healthy because of you people. Or, as healthy as I can be today, and that is way better than I was, and I expect to be getting better. I guess, it's not too late to start but for you younger people, PLEASE don't give up and stay with this now, you'll live longer than I will, since you'll have less wear and tear. Course tons of other things in life to deal with besides being raw, but you'll have more stamina and clarity to do that. Blessings and hugs to you all, Grama Louise
