Guest guest
Lesa, It sounds as if your body is detoxing (diareah and fatigue are classic symptoms), especially if you've only been raw since June. Even with all the cleansing I did, I still detoxed for the first year and half (seems like my nose was always dripping!). It varies person to person depending on how much toxic build up you start with. If you want to find out more about it you can read a book by Dr. Richard Anderson called: Cleanse and Purify Thyself - Book 1. To help with cleansing reactions, you can also add more minerals to the diet. Most of us are depleted of minerals and when the body is detoxing it actually requires extra minerals. Try drinking this mineral broth on a daily basis. One batch should last 3 days in the fridge, but feel free to drink it in a day if you want: Mineral Broth Put 3 quarts of water in a large soup pan and add the following 3 - 4 upeeled organic pototaes, chopped 3 - 4 stalks organic celery, chopped a large handful of organic greens Simmer for 20 minutes, discard the vegetables and drink the broth (the veggies can be composted or used for a soup for family or friends if they are not raw) Feel free to add other veggies and spices to create a tasty broth. I usually add at least half an onion, a clove or two of garlic, organic carrots, a little lemon juice (add this after the broth has been separated from the veggies), cayenne pepper, celtic sea salt, various herbs (rosemary is yummy!). You can also find high quality supplements designed by Dr Anderson to whole and alive still. (http://ariseandshine.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS & Category=3) The products to select from would be: Alkalizer; ElectroLife; FundaMinerals (do the powder, the liquid version tastes horrible I've heard); PowerUp Good luck on your raw journey! I am on a fixed income and had been selectively purchasing from a local farmers market trying to steer clear of pestiside prone fruits and vegies.. This past week I made the big switch to all organic, well except for the spinich and lemon I ate while out at a chinese restaraunt with friends. I've been tired and pardon the TMI loose... this doesn't seem right to me - although I'm listening to my body and since I have no other obligations today, I'm right here at home resting and going slow. Today I've had a smoothie made w/2 org. bananas and a handful of organic spinich, a slice of my raw org. apple pie (only apples, dates & almonds w/cinnamon & lemon). I'm wondering if this seems normal or if maybe I just picked up a bug (say it isn't so -- I haven't been sick in soooooo long). Another question - I've lost 65ish pounds (87#s in a year) and even with some excersize (I'm not an addict) I've got loose skin. Now I've seen Angela Stokes who looks great, she's quite a bit younger than me tho. And I've spoken with Dr. Besci who said to give it 1 1/2 years and then decide about plastic surgery. He said that the body tho amazing can only absorb about 6 " of loose skin and if I have more than that I will need to decide about surgery. Has anyone else dealt with this - what research did you do, how did you decide? what was your result? .... Thanks in advance, Just the stuff on my mind today Lesa ______________________________\ ____ Need a quick answer? Get one in minutes from people who know. Ask your question on www.Answers. Guest guest
Paula & others, Thank you so very much for your replies and encouragement. They have been greatly needed. I didn't realize the need for support with this lifestyle until recently. Paula, someone else suggested mineral need as well and suggested a different " soup " -- Warmed only slightly (whatever degree you feel is still raw) chickpea 'raw' fermented miso, nori (laver) seaweed not the sheets but the pieces straight from the sea, organic mushrooms, organic celery, ginger & cayenne. Seemed to feel good going down, I've had 2 quarts of it today and yes I do feel a bit better. My nose is still running - but I'll give it time. It seems strange to me that I didn't do any detox prior to this, past the once a month pimple or something. Oh well - better out than in - and here's to future days of feeling GREAT! (thanks to Tony the Tiger for that punctuation mark) Someone else suggested I look into the fruit'juice' FEAST that Angela Stokes is currently trying... I'm also going to see Dr. Graham speak tonight in NYC.... it's only $5 and at the Hartley House on 46th St between 9th & 10th Aves at 7pm.
