Guest guest
As a raw foodist of over 20 years, I find it irritating too, and on this and other raw food forums I'd appreciate seeing the coaches and book sellers, etc., take their messages off-list. Guest guest
You are right for they confuse me sometimes and I don't want to buy anything right now I want to see what just raw will do for me. For me I can't put the money out for that kind of thing as a coach but if they want to help they could give advice but not sell. Guest guest
It does seem to be that this list has been overtaken by a number of people who sound like late-night TV ads, a la " If you want to .... then take a look at.... but wait! We'll add.... " Up until about a year and a half ago, the list was made up of people who were interested in discussing their raw food lifestyle and *sharing* their experiences. I don't have an issue with people putting their websites in their signature line, but I do think that " advertising posts " should not be allowed on a list such as this one. To tell the truth, I am put off by such things and am *less likely* to purchase from such people. When I went to a raw food get-together in New York City not too long ago, and saw these so-called gurus in person, I had no desire to go near them. I suppose the people who do know them and like to say so get off on being known to know So-and-So. That's nice. Not me. I'd like to just talk to people who are working on being raw and want to share their experiences. Guest guest
Margaret, you said it good that is why I joined to learn. I know some products are very good but too much is too much. When I go to buy anything I will look for it and do my research and talking to people about it. Right now I want to learn about eating raw and how to stay that way. which this group has helped me with. Theresa \o/
Guest guest
Theresa, the best thing you can spend your money on is good, ripe, organic food and lots of it. Learn the foods that are low on the pesticide list. You can buy commercial and save money that way. A couple of examples are mangos and avocados. I found, early on, that there are lots of free resources on the Internet. You don't HAVE to spend money on books and magazines in order to learn to eat raw. Get out there and search! Good luck! Guest guest
Hi, This is what I'm doing for this mo and maybe the next 4 mo. for I'm spending all extra money on a building for a small business us girls are trying to start. all I'll do is get food for myself no one else even for awhile. I told my grandson no more junk and he said OK for he know we want this. Everyone else has too and so this might be a good start for them too. I have never gotten Mangos but avocados I eat at least twice a week for they don't cost much. This first week I'm doing the lemon juice cleanes again,to get out some more of the old stuff. I can't get Organic unless I go out of town and I'm not going to be able to do that as much for now. apples, bananas last a long time. Last night I went shopping on the internet with the lib. and ordered some books on my dd card since she is home now and should have them this week sometime. don't remember which ones but well let you know which ones I like and why. My new year plan are big and I know we will make it. Theresa \o/
Guest guest
The best resource I have found for this is FREE at http://www.foodnews.org/ It's the shoppers guide to pesticides in produce. SUPER well done & researched. You can look at the detailed report or simply download the walet sized, Reader's Digest version to carry with you when shopping. These are the same guys that exposed Teflon dangers and they do great work and are great people. I don't contribute to much in the charity line, but I flip these guys a few bucks now and then.
