Guest guest
I am a prediabetic, I had Gestational Diabetes with both of my children. A few things I learned are that diabetes type 1 is caused by a virus in the body that causes the Pancreas to stop working. There are many precursers that if identified will help prevent it. I really wish I knew where I read that. It has something to do with a blood test and cold symptoms. There are many good books out there, my favorite is the PH Miracle cure for diabetes. This book is not focused on raw but there is a big mainstream push to incorporate it. I have recommended the book to many people and it has helped. What worked for me in helping control my numbers was to eat low glycemic and to take some of the diabetic support supplements. There are two that I know helped me, Chromium Piccolinate and Vandalin Sulfate( sp?). These minerals must be supplemented because they are depleted from the earth. Changing your ph levels also helps. I have never heard that fat affects diabetes. I do know that eating the correct combination of food and starting the day off correctly with a good form of protein and low glycemic food can help you control your sugar all day long. Guest guest
Hi Christina and all, Yes, I know, very few people have ever heard that fat " affects " diabetes. But the reality is that a high-fat CAUSES diabetes 2, over time, plain and simple. And whenever I express this to people who have the requisite science background, they pause and say something like, " Yes, that makes sense. " It's just that they've never been offered that perspective before, not that they don't possess the underlying knowledge of physiology, biochemistry, etc. No one needs any supplements, low glycemic only helps to " bring the problem under control " . I'm talking about diabetes disappearing from one's life forever, so that one never need even give it a thought again. For anyone wishing to achieve that result, cut the fat -- period. I realize this is the opposite of what is said almost everywhere -- eat lots of fruits and cut the fat; eat simple sugars (in whole foods) and not starches. But this is the path of health for our species, not only WRT diabetes, but in general. Our most important nutrients are oxygen, water, fuel (simple sugars), and minerals, particularly alkalizing minerals. In fact, oxygen and water are so significant that " nutritional science " does not generally treat them as nutrients at all!! If they did, then they'd have to let go of all their conversation about protein and vitamin this and supplement that. Our species survived quite well upon this planet for millions of years with zero supplements, and except in extreme conditions or the very wealthy (who typically die miserably, in historical terms), our species has NEVER consumed the levels of fats and proteins we consume today. We are simply not designed to process that sort of diet. When we consume a diet high in oxygen, water, simple sugars, and minerals, our other nutrient needs are just plain taken care of ... with one large caveat: we are also designed for movement, to be an active species. When we live too sedentary a lifestyle, then NO diet can ever fully provide the nourishment we require for fabulous health, simply because we cannot healthfully eat and metabolize enough food. Guest guest
< the reality is that a high-fat CAUSES diabetes 2, over time, plain and simple.> Well possibly, but certainly refined sugars and starches cause diabetes too. I know that Dr. Graham says fat is caused by diabetes and not sugars, but I'm not so sure the verdict is in yet.
