Guest guest
Hi Danielle, First, one would need to understand what causes a garden-variety headache. When your body is attempting to eliminate foreign matter, there is a period of time during which that foreign matter is transported in the blood, en route to the liver and/or elsewhere. When the foreign matter, in the blood stream, enters the brain region, the body, applying its innate intelligence, constricts the blood vessels in the brain. This reduces the surface area of those vessels and therefore minimizes the degree to which any of the foreign matter can move into the brain region. A common, garden-variety headache often results. During this time, if you attempt to force the body to dilate those vessels in order to alleviate your headache, well, you can impute the rest. Throughout Nature, the solution to pollution is dilution. Excellent hydration is your friend. The best thing you can do for yourself is drink a nice serving of water, then lie down, close your eyes, and rest. If you wish to learn more about the symptoms and their meanings, we will be offering a free teleconference on Wednesday evening, February 7, called " Messages From Within: Exploring Symptoms and Sense " . There will be an announcement on this in a couple of weeks. If this whole way of thinking interests you, then I invite you to join our PathOfHealth group. Or perhaps a method to help releive a headache all together? Doctor says take OTC, but they are no help. Any suggestions? I've had it done just as I was starting to get a cold (prior to raw, now I never get colds) and all the pre-cold symptoms would vanish. The last time I had a headache I had this massage done by a Chinese Acupuncturist (who was trained for 8 years in a medical school in China and worked in hospitals in China and was shown this massage technique by one of her professors), and I've never had a headache since. I never take any aspirin or any OTC, haven't in 5 years. There are also Chinese herbs that can cure headaches, but the theory behind them is that you need to know the cause. For example, is it a heat problem? Dampness problem? Wind-heat? That is diagnosed through a variety of methods including the coating on your tongue, the shape of your tongue, the teeth marks on your tongue, the color of your tongue, one of 4 pulses that can be detected, and many other signs/symptoms you may be having. Headache may be the result of so many other things, and others would say it has something to do with your allowance of well-being. Guest guest
For myself, it's necessary to identify if my headache is muscular or vascular as it seems remedies (of any type) don't seem to work on both. If it's vascular, I will alternate between something really hot (boiling water over a washcloth) and something frozen (bag of frozen peas) by placing the hot on my head for a couple minutes, then the frozen for a couple minutes, and then hot, cold, hot, cold...in a dark room until the blood vessels in my head begin to constrict/dilate with some regularity. If the headache is muscular, I will take a really HOT bath then visit my chiropractor. In my case, nothing but the above works. My personal opinion is that one has to not only try to determine the cause(s) but also try various " remedies " to see what works best. I've struggled w/migraines for 35 years. What used to be a trigger 10 years ago, doesn't bother me now. Likewise, what used to never be an issue can now cause an instantaneous attack. It has taken me years of discovery to figure out what triggers, what to look for, how to recognize which type I have, and then implement my treatment. I hope, for you, that you're able to discover " your path " far more quickly than I.
