Guest guest
Hello, I am new to the group and I currently following Gabriel Cousens Phase 1 diet. I have been on the diet for 3 weeks. Last week I had some organic salsa w/ vinegar and yesterday I ate some air popped pop corn.....I couldn't resist and I don't really understand the theory against corn. Here is my problem: My face has been breaking out (around the mouth) and I assume this is part of the detox process. I am currently drinking yellowdock root and eating a lot of blood cleansing veggies, however, I have read a lot on nuts can cause breakouts. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am in the middle of treatment for late stage lyme disease and I feel as though I need a lot of protein. Thank you. Ash
Guest guest
Pop corn is a cooked food, and as such is less ideal than a healthy raw food. That being said, its probably not that bad as far as a cooked food, especially since it was air popped. As for the break outs around the mouth. If the break outs last a week or two, you are probably experiencing some detox of old stuff. If they never go away (lets say after 4 weeks they are still there), then you are detoxing your last night's meal. That is, the food/drugs/herbs that you eat are causing your symptoms. The fact that you are eating more raw gives you body more energy to do some housework. If you keep increasing your raw percentage, over time your body will complain about the cooked foods you are eating, and it will let you know that you don't need to be eating certain foods any longer. The only recommendation I can give you is to increase the quantity of fresh whole ripe raw organic fruits and vegetables in your diet. It is worthwhile to use the nutritional calculators like fitday or nutridiary, enter in your daily menu, and see if you are getting enough calories, vitamins, minerals, and fibers in your every day diet. Also make sure you are not getting too much fat. Ideal is under 10%, if you are transitioning, then 20% is OK, but 30% or more is too much fat.
