Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I am still considering myself to be a newbie to this list and to the raw way of life. I am easing myself into it little by little and I just thought I would write about what is going on so far! First of all, many of you have written absolutely wonderful letters offline with such kindness and I just want to say thank you all. I have not had time to respond to each and every one, but my heart was touched and I have taken some of the pointers and tried to incorporate them into my experimenting. I have had some interesting observations. Each day that I try to do a little better at being raw, I have results. Today, for instance, I have more clarity of mind than I have had in a while. It is a nice feeling. I woke up today without a headache! That was a special treat! I have only been trying to do something positive towards obtaining this life style for about 4 days now, so you will understand that I am still at the very beginning of this journey. I am learning to start my day off with water and fruit instead of my beloved coffee with heavy cream. The first few days I had terrible headaches and took deep 3 and 4 hour naps in the middle of the day, as tho I had been drugged or someone knocked me out with a baseball bat. I could not believe how tired and sluggish I felt. But, I could also feel something was happening to me on the insides that I just really can't explain. Yesterday, for most of the day, I felt mostly raunchy, but I really had a very strong feeling of well being just about dinner time. In fact, as my DH was cooking our spaghetti dinner and the smells were wafting thru the house, I noticed that while I was hungry and I desired to have the great dinner that DH was preparing, I had this sensation of " lightness " , especially in my midsection and it was quite pleasurable! I had a wave of regret that I was going to consume the cooked meal, but did so anyway. After dinner, for HOURS on end, I felt very heavy, stuffed and very uncomfortable, and my stomach felt sour. For most of the day yesterday, I had consumed only raw fruits, like nectarines, watermelon, and oranges and fresh water. I was making it like a " practice " that every time I felt a little twinge of hunger, I ate another fruit, and I felt satisfied for the most part all day long. Today, I have had water and a few nectarines and I am feeling no hunger, and I am alert and feeling pretty comfortable and a general sense of well being. So, I am trying to make changes and feel like I am making a little progress. I am trying to keep a positive attitude and I am looking forward to being able to stay raw for an entire day and see how that affects me. It is cold here now, and soups and such seduce me. I think getting thru the winter 100% raw must be a challenge. I believe our bodies do in fact enjoy warmed food. Last night, I scoured Amazon.com for some books on Raw, and was very surprised at how many are out there! I decided that if I want to take this seriously, then I need to arm myself with a bit more knowledge that I can refer back to when I need to, so I picked out a couple of books and am eagerly waiting for their arrival! One was by Carol Alt, as some of you here mentioned her name, and I saw a book with her on it and chose it as one to buy. The other one was by Natalia Rose? I can't remember now exactly, but her book had great reviews, so I took a chance. You folks on this list are a wealth of great information as well, and I read all the posts with pen in hand to write down your great pointers so that I can try to incorporate some of your wisdom into my life. Thank you all so much, Connie

Guest guest
Hi Alix! Congratulations on your 6th day of raw food! I am going a bit slower, and have been reading a lot on the internet to learn all I can. I think this is fascinating and am almost emotionally ready to jump into it full on. When I first began reading about it a week ago, I was not so sure, but the more I am reading, I find that my excitement level is increasing! I first heard about raw about a year ago, but it went in one ear and out another as my friend extolled its virtues and was doing raw. It was just one more fad, as far as I could tell. Now, with my own health getting me down, I have been looking online for anything that sounds hopeful in order to lose this weight and become free from my wheelchair and dependency on others for help. If my dabbling the last few days is any indication, I think when I can make the full transition, my body will sing with happiness! Alix, may your health just get better and better! Guest guest
Hi Connie, Isn't it amazing how fast the body starts cleansing (well, it always is, but how quickly I notice a difference is amazing to me!)? Clear- headedness is a major thing I notice, too. When I eat raw, I start being able to concentrate better and feel lighter, as you say. Then I'll have a junky dinner and/or dessert and instantly feel the fuzzy- head, unable to concentrate, in addition to uncomfortably overstuffed. I'm getting better at not judging myself (though that's still a challenge) and just noticing how I feel. That helps me gradually improve. I'm getting more and more clear about various symptoms and feelings and what causes them. Take care, Laurie rawfood , " Connie " <wyatt4ever wrote: > > Each day that I try to > do a little better at being raw, I have results. Guest guest
Hi Laurie! Nice to meet you! I am glad that I am not the only one experiencing these same feelings! Makes me know that this is not just my imagination, but it really is helping and/or working! I am excited to be able to reach a place where I know I can do raw full time. I am getting an inkling as to how wonderful I am going to be feeling as I move forward with my desired commitment to this. Right now, I just have to take one day at a time! Happy Eating! Guest guest
No, actually! She stopped after 3 months because she was gaining weight on it and was blowing up and it scared her. She has since learned that her thyroid was all but dead and is now on medication for it. I am trying to talk her into venturing into raw again, but she is reluctant, although supports me 100% for she said that although she was gaining weight out of control while doing raw, she had never felt better. I am hoping that it goes so well with me that she will try it again! I am also trying to set a silent example for DH in the hopes that in a few months he may be intrigued enough to join me on my adventure! Time will tell! Connie connie, I was just curious if your friend is still raw and if that influenced your decision at all
