Guest guest
I tried the Master Cleanse today and bahh... it was so disgusting I could not finish my glass and it recommends 6-12 glasses daily. So another failed attempt and I am disappointed. I am going to try a 7 day green tea fast with no sugar. I loooove green tea. Had anyone tried the Master cleanse and actually liked it.? ~ Sexy Mama! ~

Uh, yeah, I *like* it. I don't sit around and drink the lemonade when I am not doing the fast, but, when I am doing the fast, I like it. (I don't do the lemonade for recreation simply because I have had problems with citrus in the past. I was somewhat fearful of doing the fast the first time because of that, but, after reading the book Healing for the Age of Enlightenment, by Stanley Burroughs, I was brave enough to believe that, if I followed the fast *as described*, I might be okay.) I am a hypnotist. After years of training and study, I know a bit about how the brain works (hunger is mostly there, BTW) I know me, as well. My first time out, I made up two 2-liter soda bottles full of " lemonade " and took them to work with me. I kept a 16 oz. cup filled and sipped whenever it occurred to me to do so. I did not think about " what I was missing " (don't you remember? this is the same thing that defeats people doing raw food for the first time, and people doing candidiasis elimination diets, and people beginning low carb diets.) I thought about how I was doing this fast and it was 10 days on lemonade, then 3 days coming off with fruit and soup. I knew that 13 days of my life was no big deal. I drank A LOT of lemonade, but I never did finish the 2 bottles at work-- I had to take them home to finish off the second bottle at home. I have done the Master Cleanse many times since. My most favorable experience, psychologically, was the week before I was to have a colonoscopy. the doctor gave me this list of all sorts of chemical things I had to take to cleanse, but I decided I would " risk " doing the Master Cleanse only. I did it for 4 or 5 days (I do think it was only 4) RELIGIOUSLY... I needed the colonoscopy, and I did not want to get in there and then they might tell me that I was too " unclean " to do it.... when I was checking in, they asked me if I had done all they had said, and I told them that I had not, but that I had done a natural colon cleansing fast, and that they would find me clean. The nurse-practitioner woke me up when I was in recovery to ask me for the recipe!!!! I am going to swear by Master Cleanse as delineated by Burroughs. I know that, when I am doing it, any " hunger " is just my " monkey mind " trying to distract me. I have known people who felt that they were too hungry to continue. They were usually people who believed that they needed to eat most of the time (i.e., they were always eating, per me, and their cubic displacement, i.e. size, reflected that). the first time I did a Master Cleanse, I was at my largest (235 lbs.) but I knew that I was not going to be hungry, because I had read Burroughs, and I believed it. that is part of the trick. are you going to sit around and wonder if you are hungry, or if Burroughs knew what he was doing? I have NEVER considered modifying Burroughs's recipe, and I have never had a problem. The longest I have ever done a Master Cleanse was 20 days. The most stressful Master Cleanse I ever did was when I started, then was called by my family to come for three days... I made the decision to stop the fast just because there are too many other issues with my family without me not making nice at mealtime... then I had to pick it back up and start all over again... I was angry with myself, with the situation, so that put stress on, but I *wanted* the cleanse, so I managed. this proved to me that, even with stress, I could do the fast, and actually come out feeling much better. Being proud of myself and being able to pat myself on the back actually helped me calm down. If nothing else, just do the Master Cleanse the way acoholics do AA... one day at a time. By the 3rd day, you will be on easy street. Margaret
Guest guest
When you did the fast when you were 235 lbs how many lbs did you loose and how long did it take? How many lbs did you gain back from it if any at all. I have found that, if I make the salt water with hot water, it goes down sort of like bouillion... not to hard to handle. I am a very non-salt person -- just never liked it, even as a child... the salt in my house is only used when I am doing a Master Cleanse. (I do not use nama shoyu or Braggs, or any seasonings that have salt in them. I don't usually like even vegetables that have a high sodium content, like celery) so.... I was very happy to figure out this way to do the salt flush, because it is a heck of a lot faster and much more predictable than waiting for a laxative tea to do its work. I like the way it moves everything through -- by this I mean that I feel it does a very thorough job quickly and within a short time. (of course, to get that clean, you could do a high colonic, and be that clean in one day, but I don't have that kind of money, so three or four days to clean is a nice result for me-- it is also good enough for a colonoscopy) If you cannot do the salt flush for whatever reason, Burroughs said that you can do a laxative tea in the morning as well. I hope this helps Margaret
