Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I have been telling an email friend of mine about trying to eat the raw lifestyle, and I have shared a few things with her. She asked me a few questions that she wanted me to ask of the group. Her questions: " I agree that milk in its present form has a whole lot of biproducts, chemicals and pasteurization issues. Do me this favor. Ask your group what they think of RAW milk and RAW milk products like what Dr.Mercola suggests. But I do agree that with conventional milk, there are a whole lot of health issues involved. It would be best to eliminate these things from our diet. Mike Adams is also against milk. But my kefir does so good. If I were to let milk go, I would need another great source of pro- biotic. What does your group use on a regular basis for that? " What about their protein source? Do they eat raw eggs? I was trying to answer these questions for her myself, but I found myself floundering, as I am still so new to all of this. I would love some input on this as well, because I was thinking in terms of perhaps using a bit of raw cheese (if I can find any) to add to my salads. I am trying to learn to live without cheese, but it is hard. Thanks, Connie PS: I am still struggling to be 100% raw, but I am getting better at it. I have started a food diary to help me face my eating with honesty.
Guest guest
Hi Connie, I don't know if this will convince your friend, but I go back to nature...What is the purpose of cow's milk? To nurture a young calf and help it grow and gain massive amounts of weight very quickly (especially compared to how long it takes humans to become " full- grown " ). All milk is designed to feed a species' own young. It is not consumed across the entire life span. Also, no other species drink another's milk. So we are going against nature in many ways drinking cow's milk. Are you a member of the PathofHealth (http://health.PathOfHealth/)? There are some really good posts in the archives there (by Elchanan) about the addictive opioids in dairy. I would recommend Dr. Doug Graham's new book ( " The 80/10/10 Diet " ) to explain the protein issue and much more, as well as for awesome testimonials and motivation. I just finished it and it is by far the best book on raw nutrition I've seen. As far as the probiotics, from what I've read, I believe that when we live in accordance with nature and eat what our bodies are designed for, they are not necessary. Best wishes, Laurie
Guest guest
Hi Laurie! I just wanted to say thank you for the time you took to answer the questions. I am delighted to pass on your thoughts to her. What you have said makes a lot of sense to me. I tell you, it is really hard to change your mind over to this way of eating. I think it takes time to absorb all of the concepts and then more time to break old habits. I have not read the 80/10/10 book as yet, but when I can get one I will do so. Thanks so much, Connie rawfood , " Laurie Swanson " <laurie wrote: > > Hi Connie, > > I don't know if this will convince your friend, but I go back to > nature...What is the purpose of cow's milk? The Dairy folks have people so convinced that they must drink cows' milk in order to be healthy -- balderdash!! Donna *O :-)
