Guest guest
Well I have been slowly trying to convert but I am worried that I will find myself deficient in the minerals I need. I have been researching this most of the day and would like to know if there is a website out there that has a weekly or daily meal plan for raw food diets. My doctor once gave me a meal plan for a month but that diet contained lots of cooked foods. I tend to do better with things when I have 'instructions' to follow. thanks for any and all feedback. Guest guest
Hi Stacy, Congratulations on discovering raw! Your body (and mind and spirit) will love you for it! :-) I don't have a plan for you other than eat all the fresh raw fruits and veggies that you like, but I wanted to reassure you that you don't need to worry about getting enough of anything. As long as you are getting enough calories, deficiencies are very rare. Don't worry. You will actually be getting way more nutrition on raw than on cooked! Relax and enjoy the journey. Here is a great article on the concept of a " normal diet " : http://www.newstarget.com/019417.html Wishing you all the best! Guest guest
I'm not sure but I just started the raw food diet this week and went to a potluck tonight, so back to my old eating habits, boy am I ever sorry, I felt sick and sluggish from the food, I'm convinced that the raw food diet is wonderful, I really can tell the difference. Guest guest
Hi Stacy, In my opinion, you will save yourself a lot of time and confusion if you read Dr. Doug Graham's new book, " The 80/10/10 Diet. " It is the first major publication on the low-fat raw vegan diet. It explains the whys and hows (including menu plans) and has great testimonials/personal stories which are really helpful, too. I wish it had been available 2 yrs. ago when I started looking into this. It's avail. on his web site (www.foodnsport.com). Laurie

" I second that recommendation, and also wish it had been available back then, too! (I started with raw in 2005). One of the confusions that cleared up is that you're not omitting overt fats altogether. You are reducing them greatly, having them every few days, but not omitting them altogether, as long as you're keeping the overall ratio to 80/10/10. But his book explains it AMAZINGLY WELL! Guest guest
Karen, I know just what you mean. I don't have any problem while I'm at work it is all the other times. I have been so much better this weekend and I did go out and get some very good fruit so I can stay on it while we go to the coast. What have helped me the most is the book 80-10-10 book for it is mostly fruit blended and big salad and I like it for I can stay on it easy while at work. I got myself a cheap blender and leave it at work. Theresa \o/
