Guest guest
Hello Rhonda, I read your letter and I congratulate you on your decision. You are on the right tract. My question is,What exactly are you eating? How much dark green vegetables are you including in your diet and very important, Are you eating sprouts, such as sunny's, mung bean, azuky beans, alphalfa sprouts, etc.? How about nuts and seeds? When you are raw you can get the best nutrition in the world if you do it right. Raoul ______________________________\ ____ The fish are biting. Guest guest
Raoul, You asked what I was eating. I am eating mostly fruits with a little celery, a few Kale leaves, advacado and some sunflower seeds. Oh, and some bell peppers. Now that I look at this I'm thinking I should be getting more vegetables. I have been doing this for 5 days and still haven't lost any weight, which kind of has me worried. Maybe, I'm just eating too much fruit. Or is it to early to expect weight loss on 75 - 90% raw? Rhonda
Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, It is important eat fruit on their own, on an empty stomach, not combined with anything else. This is crucial, or else the fruit may not be digested properly and will cause acidity and weight gain. Fruit passes through the stomach within minutes of eating, and goes into the small intestine where it is absorbed. Fruit does not need any processing in the stomach. If there is other food in the stomach in the way, the fruit will get stuck there and then turn acidic and will no longer be healthy. Same if fruit is eaten with something - it gets stuck with the other food, even it is raw vegetables. After 5 days you should have lost lots of weight, so I can only think that it is the combination of fruit and veggies which is the culprit. Allow 20 minutes after eating fruit to eat anything else, 40 minutes for bananas because they have a lower water content. So, eat fruit on an empty stomach, generally in the morning between waking and noon. You can eat it at later times but only if you are sure your stomach is empty, which takes 3 or 4 hours after eating veggies. The rest of the day eat AS MUCH veggies as you want. The more veggies you eat, the more weight you will lose! It is impossible to gain fat eating this way, though you can build muscle very quickly, way faster than those people at the gym using protein powders! I've tested it myself. Make your veggie foods good to eat, this helps a lot! Salads are great with home made dressing - half or whole lemon squeezed, a tablespoon or 2 or 3 of olive oil, a garlic mashed, and some sea salt and pepper to taste - whisk with a crushed piece of garlic on the end of the fork, and let sit for a few minutes for garlic flavor to infuse. Get creative with your home made dressing, it will make it a lot easier and more fun to eat all that salad! If you still want plain veggies, a great dip is raw organic cashew or almond butter! You will absolutely love it! Water down the butter with half as much water, and you should be good to go. The raw cashew butter has extremely healthy fat in it and helps satisfy cravings, as you're well aware the same with avocados. You SHOULD expect lots of weight loss after 5 days eating 75-90 percent raw, especially if you are just starting! But the fruit combination thing is very important. Also, I have found fruit to be more of a " maintenance " food, meaning it will keep whatever weight I have on my body pretty much there (unless you really have some weight readily available to lose), while the veggies literally SUCK the fat out of your body. So, keep the fruit to the morning, and tons of veggies the rest of the day. You should notice a difference within ONE day! Guest guest
So, smoothies are bad for us unless they include only one food? Guest guest
Ahh no, thats a different case! Great question! The smoothie recipes you're using will be fine. If you are smoothie-ing only fruits, thats wonderful, same with only veggies, but FOR SURE you can combine pretty much any fruit and veggie in the smoothie. Most of the liquid has been separated from the fiber in this case, so the liquid from the fruit and veggies can pass on through to the small intestine while the fiber will stay behind for a while to be processed - this is fine The sugars in the fruit will pass with the liquid and so wont get stuck in the tummy to ferment. But, you should still have a smoothie on an empty stomach, in the morning etc. Joe rawfood , " Karena Cruse " <kc wrote: > > So, smoothies are bad for us unless they include only one food? Guest guest
Thanks Joe! I appreciate hearing about keeping fruits and veggies seperate. I will try that today and see how it goes. Thanks for the inspiration on the salad and dressing, too. It is hard for me to figure out what to eat sometimes. Rhonda
