Could anyone share the experience of going on Water Fast Only... nothing else.

How long did you manage to do it and how did you feel?

Any inut would be helpful.

I went on a 3 day water fast - drinking water each time I felt hunger. The

first day (a Thursday) was hardest but after that I felt energized and my

thinking was clear.. I worked on Thursday and Friday without problems.

I got through 2.5 days of water fasting with no problem. The third day my

psyche kicked in at noontime and told me to eat and I did. I kicked myself for

it at the time because I was doing awesome ... felt wonderful, had energy, etc.

It's that old habit thing that ruined it for me. I'm told if you can get past

day 3 your golden. That is my goal for my next fast (I just need to finish up

the small amount of food that is in the house now) which I expect to be sometime

this weekend - to get past the 3 day mark.

Hi D,

I have done 3 8 day water fasts in the past 2 years, and am preparing

for my fourth now in which I plan to go 10 to 14 days.

Now, it is of utmost importance to prepare your body for a fast. If

you are 100 pounds overweight and have related health issues, going

straight into a fast will will be an extremely painful

experience...indeed, fasting is easiest for those who are healthiest.

So to prepare, if you don't already know: You should mono-diet

(meaning eat only raw food) for at least a week or two leading up to

the beginning of the fast, with a longer mono-diet lead time the more

overweight and toxic you are. If you email me your current diet plan,

your height and weight etc, I can recommend something more specific.

The mono-diet period will begin your cleanse and you can expect to

lose a pound or two a day in excess fat if you have it - you wont lose

more weight than is healthy though, so don't worry. This period also

helps break any " cooked food addictions " you have, and will make the

fast a lot easier.

In my first 8 day fast, I didn't really feel anything for about 2 days

- slight hunger, but it was by no means uncomfortable. It is

important to realize that it takes about 2 or 3 days for the body to

actually enter the true fasting state, where the body begins to

conserves muscle tissue and utilize fat and interstitial tissue

reserves for sustenance instead. Before this happens, your body

relies on muscle tissue only, so frequent 2 or 3 day fasting is not

recommended as this can reduce your muscle tissue without giving a

true cleansing experience. One-day fasting is okay on the other hand,

as this is too short of time for the body to bother reducing muscle

tissue because the food in your system from the day before is still

being digested. However, a one day fast is mostly for rest, although

weekly one day fasts does eventually build up. I prefer doing long

fasts, because you can really see and feel the results right away.

On the 3rd day I started feeling a little tired and a little slower,

(but I still went to my desk job/work everyday of the fast...there

will be no heavy lifting!!), and on the 4rth day I started

experiencing major cramping in my knees and calves. This was due to

release of the toxins stored in the joints there, and it went away by

the 6th day. You will find your mind to feel a lot more even,

concentrated, less distracted, and generally calm. That was my first

fast, and please know that breaking the fast is as important as

starting it. It must be broken with the right type of food, or else

you could damage your digestive system! I can tell you how to break

it if you don't know already. Please ask if needed. I lost about 20

pounds of fat I think on that first fast (I had it to lose).

My 2nd fast transpired almost exactly like my first, with the knee

pain etc, but after I broke it I experienced an increase in my libido

that was just ridiculous. I broke that fast extremely well and that

might have had something to do with it. But with the return of health

and rejuvenation that fasting brings to the body, this is a commonly

reported occurrence - not 100% of the time, but you might get lucky ;)

After this fast I noticed my bowel movements were of very poor

quality, and this lasted until my 3rd fast.

On my 3rd fast, I experienced the knee pain again but it was extremely

reduced in intensity compared to the previous 2 fasts, meaning the

toxins were nearly eliminated from that region. You may experience

aches or pains in other parts of your body, or not at all, just

depends on where and if large amounts of toxin have been stored in

your body. This fast was by far the easiest, but I could feel major

processing of some sort happening deep in my intestines - it didn't

cause any pain but I could just feel something major happening. I

broke this fast very well once again, and after the first day of

intaking food again I passed a major clump of mucous! After that

passed, my bowel movements were extremely healthy again, and a skin

condition I have had since adolescence disappeared and has not

returned. I used to have these huge welts in the skin on my back that

looked like huge whiteheads - this was my body trying so hard to

cleanse itself in the feeding state that it tried to force the mucous

out of my skin! But the fast allowed the mucous to pass the right

way. I was a huge dairy consumer before studying Natural Hygiene, so

I am sure that is where all the mucous came from - I haven't been sick

of a cold or anything since I stopped drinking milk, even though I am

around sick people all the time! I didn't experience the increase in

libido this time, but, I must say it never really disappeared! I've

been on a libido high for half a year now, though it is starting to

diminish now.

My next fast, which starts in a week or two, will go for at least 8

days, but I am trying for 10 to 14. Now that I am at my ideal body

weight, my body will use fasting for " deep " cleansing rather than

excess fat loss, so I hope to pass more mucous out of my system as I

feel there is still some left in my intestines.

If you have any more questions, please post and I and everyone will

help! Hope this helps!

Oh lastly, it is important to be in a stress free environment while

fasting, but I have found that having absolutely nothing to do just

makes it harder because all your mind has to do is think about food.

So have something to do with your mind...if you can work on your

computer from home, then thats great, or play games on it etc. Also

realize that fasting is a very emotional and spiritual process. You

will by denying yourself the thing that since birth has given you

comfort! So you must have great faith in yourself, and great courage

as well, but these will also develop with fasting.

Have fun!
