A fourth of donors have reduced the amounts that they give to charity as a result of the economy. Addressing the causes and magnitude of the unwanted horse population in the United States, this research found that 90% of survey respondents believe that the number of unwanted, neglected, and abused horses is increasing. The vast m

ajority (87%) said that over the last year unwanted horses have become a "big problem," compared with only 22% who said the same thing three years ago. The number of horse euthanizations is on the rise.

A report on Thailand's illegal ivory market documents more than 26,000 ivory products for sale in local markets, in addition to the growing number of retail outlets offering these products in 2008. Overall, however, fewer worked ivory products were on sale in 2008 compared with 2001. Insufficient laws and legal enforcement continue to make Thailand the largest illegal ivory market in Asia.
