Guest guest Posted August 6, 2009 Report Share Posted August 6, 2009 SA photographer held in Namibia August 06 2009 at 08:41AM A South African photographer accused of documenting Namibia's annual seal cull was detained without charge for nearly seven hours on Tuesday - less than a month after two journalists were arrested.The detention took place in Henties Bay, 400km west of Windhoek, where the journalists were arrested and fined in July for filming the annual clubbing of seal pups.Neil Hartmann said he was confronted by four men while taking photographs of a seal product factory for the group Seal Alert South Africa, which plans to buy out the plant and end Namibian sealing.Briton Jim Wilckens and South African cameraman Bart Smithers were each fined the equivalent of R5 000 in July for trespassing while filming the seal hunt.Continues Below ↓Of Namibia's 900 000 seals, sealers are allowed to club to death 85 000 pups and shoot 6 000 bulls in 2009. - Sapa-AFP Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
