JUDGE DISMISSES LAWSUIT AGAINST PETLAND

 

(CHILLICOTHE, OH – August 8, 2009) – Petland Inc is pleased to learn that the federal district court in Arizona has dismissed the class action lawsuit against it that was filed by six individuals and supported by the Humane Society of the United States. The court’s ruling was delivered on August 7, 2009.

 

The Court ruled that the Complaint in the lawsuit failed to set forth any legally viable claims. In addition, the Court noted in its ruling that the Complaint failed to present any facts establishing any causal relationship between the injuries claimed by the plaintiffs and anything that Petland had done.

 

The Humane Society of the United States touted the lawsuit in furtherance of its fundraising and media campaign seeking to end the sale of animals through pet stores. Petland denied that it had done anything unlawful, and it believes strongly that consumers have the right to purchase and keep pets.

 

Petland is a company of animal lovers, and in the wake of this legal victory seeks to communicate its support for industry practices intended to ensure healthy and well-socialized pets. Petland is committed to providing its customers with a positive pet buying experience. Petland is also a committed supporter of quality animal breeding. Like the buying public and many animal support organizations, Petland is opposed to substandard breeders and favors the elimination of such breeders from the industry.
