Guest guest
Dear Friend, Friends of Animals and area residents have been attending meetings and spreading the word through educational leafleting and peaceful demonstrations that the Conservation Commission Subcommittee on Deer Management is currently discussing ways to kill and manage deer in Open Space areas of Fairfield. This subcommittee will be holding a meeting on August 24, inviting Fairfield residents to speak about this issue. Please mark your calendar for this date and plan to attend. Speakers will be limited to five minutes and must sign in as they arrive. It is extremely important that the message be heard that we do not want Fairfield to become a place where deer are subjected to violence. The deer have the right to be left alone as they are part of this urban environment to which we all belong. “This deer hunt isn’t justified morally or scientifically. It’s offered to appease a few local hunters who have long had far too much influence locally and nationally. The deer should be off-limits to hunters, and those who find pleasure in killing deer should instead control themselves,†says Priscilla Feral, President, Friends of Animals. If you cannot attend, please send a letter to the Conservation Department expressing your thoughts about the killing of deer in Open Space areas. Letters should be directed to: Thomas Steinke, Conservation Conservation Department Town of Fairfield 725 Old Post Road Fairfield, CT 06824 If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
