On Saturday, December 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., we will join many cities throughout the world to protest the carriage industry as part of Horses Without Carriages International Day. Please meet us at the NW corner of 5th and Chestnut St. On Saturday, December 12, we will be leafleting in South Philly from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Our last leafleting event was very successful as we distributed almost 7,000 fliers, but we definitely need more help to get through the rest of District 1. Additional details for this event are included below. Please e-mail brandon if you are able to attend either of these two events. Horse-Drawn Carriage Leafleting Event We will be distributing information about our campaign to residents of Councilmember Frank DiCicco's district (where the horse-drawn carriages operate). We are requesting volunteers to walk through District 1 and place handouts at the residents' doors. (We will not be knocking on doors.) The goal is to provide valuable information about our campaign and get as many people as possible to contact DiCicco to let him know that a ban of horse drawn carriages is strongly supported. Volunteers willing to travel from NYC or DC for this event should contact brandon to request information about having a Bolt Bus ticket reimbursed. When: Saturday, December 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (first shift is 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; lunch is from 1:00 to 2:00 (free if you volunteer for both shifts); second shift is 2:00 to 5:00). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your shift to pick up flyers and a map – and for last minute instructions. Where: We will meet at Mifflin Park in South Philly (6th and Ritner) at the beginning of both shifts and for lunch. Please bring a refillable water bottle (we will supply the water).
