I spoke to the volunteer who put the video out for about an hour on the phone two nights ago. She said that the video was shot by the president of the Humane Society (Janie Hicks 870-270-7338) . The Humane Society owns the property the shelter was built on. A contract was supposed to be signed by Forrest City with the Humane Society for them to have use of the property - i.e. build the facility there. However, since the shelter was built it has fallen into disrepair because neither the employees (i.e. AC officers) nor the city care - point blank. The head AC officer is a bully and threats have been made to the Humane Society personnel who come to the shelter daily to care for the animals. The Humane Society took the the head AC officer (Roy Hamilton) to court for the neglect and abuse shown on the video as they had much evidence any many, many witnesses. Roy Hamilton (head AC officer) was chared

with NOTHING when he was taken to court - thats right - he got off. So now the Humane Society is taking Forrest City to court to determine who has legal ownership since the city never signed the required contract with the Humane Society.

Now here is where it gets real interesting - pitbulls - both aggressive and pregnant pitbulls - end up missing without fail at this shelter. Paperwork states they are there and then all of sudden they are not there and there is no documentation as to where they went. Also steroids have been missing from the medicine supply cabinet (of note - it is the Humane Society who supplies any and all meds used on animals at the shelter).

It was reported to me by this volunteer often during the time of regular business hours - no one is on duty at the facility as the AC officers are out in their vehicles doing their job (which I found laughable). That means if you loose your dog - you cannot get into the shelter to see if it is there. If you want to adopt an animal, you cannot get in to adopt one.

This place sounds worse - much worse then Walker County GA - if any of you have been on this group long enough to recall the trials and tribulations of that crap hole.

Medicine use is not logged at the shelter by the workers. The animals are not euthed on site. they are taken to a vet who is contracted by the city to euth them. However, only the head AC officer (Roy Hamilton) decides who gets euthed and then he takes them. Most dogs who come in injured, sick or get injured or sick while there, are never taken to the vet for treatment or humane euthanization. Instead they are left to slowly suffer and die at the facility (which you can see on the video)

The mice problem seen on the video has yet to be corrected. As of Sunday, mice had chewed their way into the dryer at the facility. This was noted when the volunteer I spoke with smelled burning while the dryer was in use. This was shown to the AC officer on duty as now it is an obvious fire hazard. Nothing was done about it and probably nothing will be done about it.

They have had parvo at this facility. they have grass fenced in areas out back they use for dog holding. If a dog with parvo is placed in that grass area, there is no way to cleanse it properly to prevent the spread of parvo or anything for that matter.

A cocker spaniel was brought in last Friday - injured with a punture wound to its hind leg. The cocker was bleeding all over itself and much blood was in the kennel. As of Sunday night - this cocker had not been treated or seen by a vet and the leg was extremely swollen. I begged the volunteer to please have the head Humane Officer contact me so I could try to help this Cocker. I have recieved no email or phone call. As far as I know this cocker is still suffering at the shelter or has died on its own with no treatment.

The dumpster in the video used to put dead dogs in is only emptied about once a week if that. the dumpster company (called King Disposal) has complained to the facility about the horrendous odor and dogs being left in the dumpster not in garbage bags. The fluids from the dead animals have leaked into the ground and the ground is now contaminated from it.

It is very common for aggressive dogs to have another dog placed in with them knowing full well the aggressive dog will kill the other. This has happened repeatedly over and over again.

I am told by the volunteer that the smell inside the facility is horrible irregardless of the temperature.

The dogs often go longer than 24 hours without food and water. It is not uncommon for dogs to get into fights over food.

Please anyone interested in doing some real to help this shelter besides crossposting emails - contact me directly rescuer4life@ gmail.com. I am interested in contact from people willing to act in a professional yet appropriately aggressive manner to address this situation and get as much attention to it as possible including finding help for any animals unfortunate enough to end up at this shelter.

It came from a girl that is one of the volunteer group at the shelter. Right now they are getting some attention. but the jerk that is in charge of the shelter needs to be removed as well as their Mayor (which unless u live there u can't help)

But we have people making calls and sending emails and a petition will be out soon as well.

Who sent this video out originally? I want to help and do something. The video just made me sick. This should not be happening anywhere! I get tired of seeing animal abuse in other countries--we cannot help those until we rid our own nation of this illness.

Please, please I want to get in touch with the correct people--this I would write letters to get action.Lisa Zito in Central CAMon, 23 Nov 2009 14:19:25 -0800Forrest City, Arkansas "Shelter" * WARNING U TUBE VIDEO IS GRAPHIC BUT, A MUST WATCH TO FULLY UNDERSTAND! Bobbie k9mom@buckeye- express.comMonday, November 23, 2009, 3:28 PM More Info - Re: Forrest City , Arkansas - WARNING UTUBE VIDEO IS GRAPHIC BUT, IS A MUST WATCH TO FULLY UNDERSTAND! http://www.fcahuman e.org/ This is a link for the "shelter", and I emphasize this, because it is certainly not offering shelter and safety. I would almost bet there are more animals than listed but, several have asked, so this may help a little. I have no idea how many cats may be there, but I can bet there are some. WARNING UTUBE VIDEO IS GRAPHIC BUT A MUST WATCH TO FULLY UNDERSTAND.This is just one dog listed here that is getting help. But, this

place is full of poor animals that are being neglected, not fed, aggressive dogs kenneled together until they fight and kill each other. Sick dogs left to just die rather than be humanely euthanized. The U Tube video is very graphic. But, we need every rescuer out there to help get this cruelty stopped. These dogs need to be out, and we need media coverage to bring some really unwanted attention to this place. When you have a shelter or pound being run by Nazi type idiots then something has to be done. PLEASE everyone, do what you can to help this situation. Start petitions, notify media, cross post, help take at least one out of there, anything. AADR is taking this Dachshund. And as our president said she doesn't care if it is PB or a Rottie, just get it out. That is the attitude we need. Please help!! In

If you can't take him, but could help transport, he is welcome here in central Missouri with me. Perhaps Alyssa could pull for us until we got a transport

together. Or, perhaps one of the larger organizations have a member close by. PERMISSION TO CROSS POST!! Dear Dachshund Rescue,I am a volunteer of the humane society in Forrest City , Arkansas . Animal control recently brought in what appears to be a full blooded miniature dachshund (black and brown) to the shelter. He is a very shy but, with a little work I think he could be a great pet. Our pound is a very high kill shelter and I'd hate to see a dog this beautiful put to sleep. If you have any advice or know anyone who would adopt/foster this boy please let me know. I am

available by email or by phone at: 870-261-3785. Thank you,Alyssa Aldridge Doreen Burrusdoxifurmom (AT) charter (DOT) net (at charter.net)"Till There are none, Rescue One"Please don't litter, spay and neuter
