Guest guest
Bull-killing case postponed November 24 2009 at 10:59AM An urgent court application to stop the Ukweshwama ritual during which men kill bulls with their bare hands was postponed to December 1 on Tuesday to allow King Goodwill Zwelithini and other respondents to file their papers. Animal Rights Africa (ARA) went to the Pietermaritzburg High Court to stop the ritual, which is scheduled to take place on December 5 at Zwelithini's palace in Nongoma. ARA argues that the manner in which the bulls are killed is cruel. Other respondents in the matter are the Minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sicelo Shiceka, the Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa, the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Zweli Mkhize, and the province's MEC for Local Government, Housing and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube. - Sapa
