I don’t mean to be a downer (get it? downer?), but putting downer pigs in the food supply just ain’t cool!

Yesterday, Ecorazzi told you that CNN’s Nicole Lapin reported on the Humane Society’s efforts to ban downer pigs — animals too sick or injured to walk — from being used in food production.

Well, just last night, HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell had Nicole on her show to find out more about this über cruel process. Turns out that not only is the National Pork Producers Council okay with the brutal slaughtering of downer pigs, but they freely admit it’s standard practice.

Whoa! Who has two thumbs and thinks the National Pork Producers Council needs a serious values check? This guy!
