Guest guest
- PCRM Research Program Coordinator Rebecca Frye Let Walgreens Know You Care: Tell Them to Stop Donating to Health Charities that Fund Cruel Animal Experiments! Dear Mrs. Vickerman, Walgreens, the largest drugstore chain in the country, calls itself “the pharmacy that America trusts.” Yet it continues to heavily support health charities that fund scientifically and ethically questionable animal experiments—while giving little to no support to health charities that only provide vital patient services or only advance research without the use of animals. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is leading the Council on Humane Giving’s efforts to promote compassionate medicine that does not involve animal testing. Tell Walgreens’ CEO that his company must begin to support health charities that fund only scientifically sound, nonanimal research. Please call, e-mail, or write a letter to Gregory D. Wasson, and politely ask him to begin funding health charities that provide vital patient services or advance research without the use of animals. Being polite is the most effective way to help these animals. Send an automatic e-mail today. Gregory D. Even though this type of animal use has been done for more than 50 years, more than 150 effective stroke treatments in animals have failed to produce effective human treatments. Yet Walgreens executives disregard this information, refusing to take the first step toward creating a more progressive and thoughtful corporate giving policy. Please tell Walgreens to stop donating to health charities that fund outdated and cruel animal experiments. If you have any questions, please contact me at info or 202-686-2210, ext. 384. Thanks so much for your help!
