SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION--ATTEND THE MEETING COME AND SPEAK OUT FOR THE ANIMALS JANUARY 12, 2010 LOS ANGELES CITY HALL Last Chance for Animals (LCA) requests your signature on this very important online petition. With the resignation of Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS) General Manager Ed Boks in June 2009, Mayor Villaraigosa is now charged with appointing the next General Manager. A successful campaign is needed to build awareness and advocate for Mayor Villaraigosa to appoint a No-Kill dedicated General Manager. The motivation for this campaign is to try and save the thousands of lost and homeless animals who are currently or will be in jeopardy in the future. The LAAS 2008 Statistical Report cites: 19,617 dogs and cats euthanized in 2008, 30% more than 2007. The following announcement was just released: "The Board of Animal Services Commissioners, the City Personnel Department, and the Mayor and City Council would like your input in regard to the search for a new General Manager for Los Angeles Animal Services." The Board will convene a special session, at 12:00 noon on January 12, 2010, in connection with their regular meeting. Starting at noon, the Board will accept public comment relating to the search for a new General Manager. Your valuable input about qualifications, job description and requirements, recruiting ideas, selection criteria, or other pertinent topics are welcome and needed! The firm handling the General Manager search, as well as the City Personnel Department will be "monitoring the input." The meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at: City Hall Room 1060 200 North Main Street Los Angeles 90012 12 Noon To represent our voice and concerns, the following petition was successfully started by Occidental College students and is now available online for you to sign and spread to your friends and allies, which will be given to the mayor and other decision makers: CLICK HERE TO SIGN ONLINE PETITION!
