The Captain and the crew won't let them in, they don't know that they WILL NOT GIVE UPAnimal advocacy is, in a certain sense, standing up to tell true life stories that are not being heard; true life stories that most people are ignoring. The first step in animal advocacy is to help people see things differently. Animals are somebody, not something. ~ Tom Regan--- On Thu, 2/11/10, Shannon Morgan <fortheanmls@ > wrote:

Dear Shannon,

I have good news to report. Tomorrow marks a full week that not a single whale has been killed in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Our goal now is to make it two weeks and then three weeks. We escorted the majority of the whaling fleet out of the sanctuary on Tuesday (more on that in the first news story below), but just today they tried to come back into these internationally protected waters with the intent to kill more whales. Both of our ships were on scene trying to stop the four whaling ships from returning to the sanctuary. A heated 5-hour battle ensued. There were many near misses but no collisions and no injuries. Please check our

website in the next few minutes for the latest news on this development. We are steadily impacting their quota and intend to continue to hit them where it hurts - their wallets. We will not tolerate the death of a single whale. If they attempt to kill and transfer a whale to the Nisshin Maru, we will stand our ground. We are the only group of people down here defending the whales from the cruel harpoons of the whalers. Your support is vital to our continued mission. Please read on to learn about our recent news.

Our Ships Escort the Whaling Fleet Out of the Sanctuary

After following desist orders given by the Steve Irwin and the Bob Barker, the entire Japanese fleet, less one ship, have left the

Southern Ocean Whale Sancutary and continue to head North by Northwest. No whales have been killed since last week and we will continue to escort them and prevent their whaling operations for as long as possible. Click here to read the full story. Your support is appreciated to help us keep this campaign

going!

Bob Barker Rammed by Illegal Whaler!

The Japanese whalers are far more aggressive this year than in years past. Because the whalers got away basically scot-free with the outrageous sinking of the Ady Gil, they now apparently think they can do whatever they want, even if it means endangering Sea Shepherd crew. On February 6th, in response to the Bob Barker actively blocking the spillway to the fleet's factory ship, the Yushin Maru 3 intentionally rammed the Bob Barker, creating a deep gash in the mid-starboard side of the Sea Shepherd vessel above the waterline.. Welcome to the Advisory Board Dr. Sydney Holt

We are honoured to welcome a great visionary to our Advisory Board. Dr. Sydney Holt has made a life-long commitment to marine mammal protection, animal welfare, and fisheries science.. At an early age, he understood the dynamics of fish populations and co-authored a book that soon became the optimal resource for fisheries management. Dr. Holt has has participated in various capacities for more than thirty years in the Scientific Committee of the IWC, as well as in the Commission itself, from 1959 to 2002. Click here to read more about why he supports Sea Shepherd on the whaling issue.

Sea Shepherd is determined to put an end to illegal whaling. Every year we go south, we become increasingly more effective, thanks to the support of thousands of caring and compassionate individuals from around the world. With your help, this 6th campaign to Antarctica will be our most successful ever. Thank-you for making this campaign, and all of our other campaigns to defend marine animals and habitats worldwide possible.
