Guest guest
"It's Their Destiny" News items on Asian animal abuse February 21, 2010 For USA citizens only Dear Friends This alert is intended for American citizens only. Our apologies if it doesn't apply to you. We are forwarding on the following item from our colleagues at Companion Animal Network and strongly urge you to contact your congressman over this issue. This trade agreement is desperately important to South Korea and could be a powerful incentive to get the human consumption of dogs and cats banned. Please don't forget when writing to your representative that it's not simply a question of "cultural differences" or "they eat dogs, we eat pigs" - dogs are intentionally tortured before being killed in the most painful manner possible to increase the adrenaline in their systems, while cats are boiled alive. Feb 8, 2010 Please Forward to friends and family www.CompanionAnimalNetworkTV.org SOUTH KOREAN DOG MEAT MARKET CLICK ON PICTURE ABOVE TO WATCH RECENT VIDEO OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SOUTH KOREA RIGHT NOW . . . . . . . One American soldier who fought for South Korea's independence commented: "This is not what my friends died to defend" Click here to find out if your congressperson is a member of the committees voting on this legislation favoring South Korean businesses such as dog meat butchers, breeders, and dealers. The US Congress is considering passing the US-South Korea Free Trade Agreement RIGHT NOW, which we can stop if we make an effort ! ! South Korea desperately wants this favored nation status and many of the Congressmembers who sit on the Committees that will vote on this legislation are animal welfare supporters. We have written a detailed letter to these members of Congress making it clear why South Korea is no friend of the US and why signing an agreement with a country that intentionally permits the torture of of dogs and cats for human consumption is unacceptable. There are several hundred animal rescue groups in the districts of these Congress members. If those of us in the animal welfare acommunity were to call, email and write our Representatives who sit on these Committees and give them the reason we have provided in our letter, there is a very good likelihood that we can get enough "spoiler" votes to kill the South Korean Free Trade Agreement. For the first time ever, we will be able to hurt South Korean financial interests, thus making that rogue nation accountable for its terrorism against dogs and cats. We have written the South Korean government and invited them to meet with us, but if we do not show them that the animal community has the power to hurt them financially, they will ignore our letter. The next move is YOURS ! ALL IT TAKES IS YOUR CALL, YOUR LETTER, AND YOUR EMAIL Please help us make calls and send emails to the thousands of animal groups within each congressional committee member's district CLICK HERE OR CALL 516-439-1085 TO HELP WITH CALLS, EMAILS OR COME TO A MEETING IN MANHATTAN ON THURSDAY EVENING FEBRUARY 25, 2010 Click here to read our letter to the US Congress Trade Committee members C.A.N.
