Thank you for your support Birthdays Abound at the WCC! The WCC is Wild for Camps! Contributors We want to thank everybody for the outpouring of warm expressions of sympathy and fond memories of Apache. He was an amazing wolf and an incredible educational ambassador, but we hadn't quite realized just how many people he had touched. The WCC received messages from all over the world from people who had the privilege of meeting him as well as from those who had just read about Apache or seen photos and videos of him. The steady flow of posts to our Facebook page and blog was touching and also uplifting; we were happy to see that Apache helped give so many people an educational, yet soulful, experience they'll never forget. He was the first wolf that many people ever saw in person, and his powerful and indelible impact on them was apparent in their messages. Apache's howl certainly echoes on. Classes like Diane Bentivegna's 8th graders in Woodmere, NY, who have been hard at work studying wolves and the environment, let us know how sad they were, but also expressed their excitement for their upcoming visit to the WCC. They know that although Apache is no longer with us, Kaila, Lukas and Atka carry on his "misson," helping educate the minds, and hopefully touch the lives, of our visitors. Thanks again for helping us through a tough time; we look forward to meeting more of you in person at our programs! Happy Birthday! Spring marks a special time for wolves in North America - it's birthday season! The Wolf Conservation Center will be celebrating at least 32 wolf birthdays during the months of April and May. With 3 potential litters of pups this spring, the birthday count could be our highest yet in WCC's history! Here are some birthdays to note: Kaila (left) turns 15 years old on May 1st Lukas (right) will be 12 years old on April 28th Atka (left) turns 8 years old on May 17th To sponsor an ambassador wolf, red wolf or Mexican gray wolf, please The WCC is Wild for Camps! Summer is coming and children all over the northeast will soon be off to camp! Why not enhance the camper experience with a WCC education program? We provide two methods that allow campers to enjoy the WCC's educational experience. Camp groups can arrange a visit to our facility in South Salem, NY or we can come to them! Our programs are adaptable to all age levels and offsite visits can be held indoors or out. Our traveling ambassador wolf, Atka, never fails to impress campers and staff alike. For more information or to schedule a program, please call 914-763-2373 x 1, email info, or pass this information on to your child's camp.
