Guest guest
~ANTI-MEAT BLOG POST on EPA site CAUSES CONTROVERSY~ By Ann Bagel Storck on 4/23/2010 An Environmental Protection Agency intern who posted a blog entry promoting vegetarianism has sparked a strong response from the American Farm Bureau Federation. The post, written by Nicole Reising and part of EPA's official " Greenversations " blog, cites " a variety of different environmental impacts that occur due to the production of meat " among her motives for going meatless. EPA does have a disclaimer at the end of the post stating, " The opinions and comments expressed in Greenversations are those of the authors alone and do not reflect an agency policy, endorsement or action, and EPA does not verify the accuracy of the contents of the blog. " Nevertheless, AFBF said it was " concerned " about the post. " EPA should control its blog space, " AFBF President Bob Stallman said in a statement on the organization's Web site. " What is written on its blog comes across as its official position toward farmers and ranchers that it regulates and shows a terrible disregard for them and the agriculture industry.
