What's just as grotesque as this business owner's decision to murder mice and

rabbits for sheer sensationalism and abuse the alligators for entertainment, are

the comments made below... the 1st person 'gets' it, but the rest are

representative of the psychopaths the world is churning out courtesy of barbaric

parents passing these attitudes on to their kids.[Check out the 2nd comment.]

Also mentioned was the fact that an ANIMAL SHELTER ADOPTION EVENT was taking

place there as well! The ethical disconnect is astounding! The name of the

" business " [a furniture store] is not mentioned.

 

 

ALLIGATORS FED LIVE ANIMALS DURING BUSINESS GRAND OPENING

 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --

 

Part of the celebration of the grand opening of a new business in Los Lunas

included an exhibit of real live alligators, but some people who went there said

they were shocked that it was a little too real.

 

" When we walked up somebody tossed a live bunny into the pool for the alligators

to eat, " said Amara Heising.

 

Some of the people who were there told Action 7 News it was billed as a

family-friendly event with rides and exhibits for the kids, including a couple

of live alligators.

 

Heising said she took her 4- and 3-year-old grandchildren to the grand opening

expecting some fun, but as the afternoon wore on, things got ugly.

 

'There was a child's playhouse right next to this pool where these alligators

were being thrown little bunnies and mice. It was horrible, " Heising said.

 

A spokesman for the store doesn't deny that there were live alligators there or

that they were fed live critters, but he said precautions were taken to make

sure sensitive people didn't see it.

 

" We did let the parents know that if you didn't want your children to watch the

actual live feeding to please step away. Every time he fed the mice he let them

know that this is what we're going to be doing, " said spokesman Johnanthony

Maldonado.

 

Maldonado said that the reptiles were not fed live rabbits. Still, Heising said

the whole event left her angry and not a likely future customer.

 

" The fact that they would do that as a promotion for their store seems so

bizarre and unthinking to me that it's unreal, " said Heising.

      Why stop at bunnies? Why not dogs and cats? I mean if they want to

sensationalize animal cruelty-there you go. As for " they have to eat " , there is

no reason to have the alligators in the first place. Hopefully there is a God in

heaven and the owner will get his entire arms chewed off-now THAT would be

entertainment to everybody who obviously loves the blood shows.

      I was there. Nothing so dramatic. Lady wants her 15 minutes. I guess going

to the zoo is out for her as well! Gators don't eat Coco Puffs! My kids are

young and did not react at all adversely. It was real alligators doing what

alligators do, pure and simple.

      Its interesting that we as a society can watch animals consume each other

on animal planet, the discovery channel and yet when given the chance to see it

live it becomes something " disgusting " . It is obvious that the handler was

teaching people about the gators. It is a natural process. I didnt see nothing

wrong.

      The lady failed to state the rest of the story. The event that took place

was to benefit children unm hospital, as well helping children of the Del Valle

RTC. The event had the animal shelter there to help with adoptions. As a

spectator of everything that happened at the event they made sure that the

people were aware and that everyone was informed. She turned something that was

to benefit the community into something terrible.
