Guest guest
Saturday January 14, 2006 - The Star Zoo Negara sending out the wrong message WITHOUT zoos, no one would know about wild animals from the forests of their own country, and from continents far, far away. More importantly, zoos impart strong conservation messages – people see the animals, they learn about them from the educational events and materials. Why then is Zoo Negara staging circus-like snake shows for the public? Why does this zoo, Malaysia's National Zoo, have a snake show that has the showman telling people if they have snakes come into their homes, to hit it on the head hard, and then throw the snake out on to the road so cars will run over them. Why does Zoo Negara, claiming to be a centre for conservation and education excellence, invite these snake performers, who do nothing for conservation, but instead, openly abuse the snakes? O.
