Guest guest
- Mary Alice singers/songwriters and musicians unite - PLEASE CROSSPOST http://s60.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=014AHDX2IS5J138UC1IT2CQBIZ Link to download BBC Radio show with Maria Daines - from last evening - We are a group of musicians, songwriters and artists on myspace that are trying to do what we can, in a peaceful and caring way, to bring an end to the fur trade. Real fur from cats, dogs, and captive wild animals, is used to make fur trims for garments, trinkets, and even cat toys, yes dead cat fur for cats to play with.... Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills-McCartney have recently taken part in a BBC TV news programme, to help to highlight the need to stop this terrible cruelty, you can find out more information on this link - http://justnicephotos.homestead.com/DogAndCatCruelFurTrade.html 1: Why China ??? Because it is the largest and without doubt the most cruel fur trade in the world....and though they have animal welfare laws that protect cats and dogs in the home .. wildlife in the wild - THE LAWS DO NOT COVER ANIMALS IN THE FUR TRADE so they can do anything to them that they want without the fear of being charged. 2: This is not an anti chinese/asian campaign - there are many wonderful groups and individuals working within the country, after all it is they who first exposed this horror to the world ...... by this group we show our support for them - legally they are so limited as to what they can do or say SO THEY NEED OUR HELP ! The animals caught up in this business are treated in such a cruel manner, that we feel we cannot ignore this issue. This is a trade based on greed and ignorance. If there wasn't a market for real fur then there would not be a real fur trade. Many countries must be buying it either unwittingly or otherwise. And the only way for it to be stopped is if the world says NO and refuses to buy real fur products. That means a lot of people need to know about this and say NO to real fur. It is also sad to learn that real fur is used instead of synthetic material because it is cheaper to process. How cheap is animal life? And why do these poor creatures have to suffer so unimaginably before their deaths? We would like to raise awareness that real fur is being sold around the world, often under ambiguous labelling, such as uknown origin, or even labelled as 'fake' fur. Here is the link to the myspace group where information is updated often in the forum. http://groups.myspace.com/SingersSongwritersMusiciansSayNoToFur We are urging myspace musicians and artists to join the SayNoToFur group and display a banner on their page, or sign the petition, or simply join the group to add weight to the cause. We are also hoping to release a cd of songs that will highlight the plight of animals used for their fur, and we are even thinking of an Animal Aid concert. These are early days but we will try all we can, and we hope you may add your name or your band and your voice to this campaign. Singers/songwriters/artists/musicians - we have a voice and we can use it! thank you, we hope we can make a difference together in 2006. best wishes Maria Daines, Mary Alice & Chris Pollard Dog And Cats - The Horrific Chinese Fur Trade http://justnicephotos.homestead.com/DogAndCatCruelFurTrade.html ARE YOU A MUSICIAN/SINGER/SONGWRITER ? On Christmas day they learned they had received the prestigious International Online Music Award - 'Artist Of The Year 2006' out of 34,000 nominations and along with that Maria also won the IOMA best female vocalist, and photographer Bill Pearson, from West Wratting, won 'Best Photography' for his work on Maria's cd 'Treebone' which was released in August 2005 to much critical acclaim. Along with these awards Maria and Paul also won the Steve Gilmore Award for 'Artist Of The Year 2005' on the largest music website, Soundclick.com and Maria won best vocalist on another popular music site, Dmusic.com Maria Daines and Paul Killington are songwriters from Cambridgeshire. They have been working together as band members and recording new original music since 1996. Maria writes all lyrics and melodies, and Paul plays all instruments, producing their songs independently from their home studio. They are currently rehearsing with their new 5 piece line up, to play live later this year. Recent cd release Treebone, along with other original tracks in rock, blues and country genres, has garnered Maria and Paul fans from all over the world and from countries as far and wide as Australia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Russia. In Texas, USA, there's a particularly large fan base for Maria and Paul's southern flavoured sound. Maria and Paul have just released a song entitled 'I Am The Owner Of This Coat' which is being downloaded and shared world-wide amongst animal lovers. Maria says 'The song was inspired by the work of Mary-Alice Pollard, Cornwall's Voice For Animals http://justnicephotos.homestead.com/CVFA.html This lady helps to save animals from distress and cruelty every day, she brought to our attention the campaign currently highlighted by Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills-McCartney, which is trying to prevent dogs and cats and captive wild animals from being destroyed by the fur trade in parts of the world. We wrote the song in a matter of minutes and recorded it over Christmas, and we are very proud to be able to add our voice to this issue, to hopefully raise awareness of the need to stop this cruelty in 2006' Though Maria and Paul are soon to release their second cd, 'Boneyard' they have been very busy recording a three track single 'Brothers of the Road' which is now on sale at www.cdbaby.com all proceeds to the Red Cross. They are currently enjoying much success in internet radio play on a myriad of stations, with more requests for their music to be played every day. And they will be interviewed on BBC Radio Cambridge, with presenter Sue Marchant, on Sunday 15th January, 7pm, and copies of 'Treebone' will be part of a competition giveaway. Quote from Colin Lynch, of the IOMA Awards, on reviewing Maria & Paul's album Treebone - Maria Daines and Paul Killington are without a doubt, two of the finest musical virtuosos ever to have mastered their craft in England, packaged it up, and made it possible for us to share in many, many years. Treebone is an important album in many respects... buying the album should be made mandatory and, for Her Majesty's Government, Maria and Paul are assets that should be given their TV Licenses and Council Tax vouchers free for life at the very least simply for making such wonderful music possible.
