Royal Bengal tiger killed in Kokrajhar

From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 24: In the third incident of its kind within two

months in the district, villagers of Sagunchora Gaon under Tamarhat

police station slaughtered a two-metre long full-grown Royal Bengal

tiger last evening. Police sources said that the tiger had been a

menace in the adjacent villages of Guma reserve forest. It injured

at least nine people in the last couple of days. The villagers

killed the tiger near Gadadhar river along the Assam-West Bengal

border.

On January 13, a leopard cat weighing about 35 kg had been killed by

poachers in Ride No 2 under Athiabari Range of Kachigaon division.

Another leopard cat was also killed by villagers last month. Two

Royal Bengal tigers had also been slaughtered by poachers in Chirang

reserve forest three months back.
