WASHINGTON: Ernie Fletcher, Governor of Kentucky, has rejected a plea by former

'Baywatch' babe Pamela Anderson to remove the bust of the late KFC founder

Colonel Harland Sanders from the state Capitol.

Pamela, who had made the plea on behalf of animal rights organization PETA

(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), had been protesting against the

fast food empire for alleged animal cruelty.

Fletcher, in a letter to the actress, stated that the state had no intention to

remove the bust of the Colonel Sanders.

" We have no plans to remove or change anything about the display. Colonel

Sanders remains a Kentucky icon. His success story has been an inspiration to

many. The industry he began has employed hundreds of thousands of workers over

the years. His business and his legacy have been good for Kentucky, " E! online

quoted him, as writing in the letter.

In a statement issued earlier by PETA , Anderson had said that the bust was a

‘monument to cruelty and has no place in the Kentucky State Capitol’.
