A Hong Kong man pleaded guilty to beating a friend's Shih Tzu to death after the dog's barks repeatedly bothered him as he watched a television show, news reports said Saturday. The 26-year-old man shared an apartment with the dog's owner and killed the animal while his roommate was out. He then attempted to dump the dog's body, hidden in a plastic bag, outside the apartment on Jan. 3, the Ming Pao Daily reported. The dog's owner called police when he found a pool of blood in the bathroom after searching for his pet, the newspaper said. The man was arrested the same day and charged with cruelty to animals. He pleaded guilty on Friday, and is due to be sentenced by the Kwun Tong Magistrate's Court on Feb. 24, it said. The maximum penalty for cruelty to animals in Hong Kong is a fine of HK$5,000 (US$645; €533) and six months in jail. Calls to court officers went unanswered Saturday. http://english.sina.com/taiwan_hk/1/2006/0128/63775.html __ Find a local business fast with Local Search http://au.local.
