Rs 290 cr for leather industry

The Union government has commissioned a Tannery Modernisation Scheme

and another modernisation scheme for Footwear and Leather Product

inudstry at a total cost of Rs 290 crore.

 

Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) Director T Ramaswami has

said that the new Tannery Modernisation Scheme is being implemented

through a unit in CLRI. Under this scheme, incentives upto Rs 50 lakh

can be provided for modernisation of the tannery sector. A provision

of Rs 150 crore has been made for providing such incentives.

 

Modernisation of Footwear and Leather product Industry: Government of

India has commissioned a new Modernisation Scheme for footwear and

leather product industry. The project is being implemented through a

unit in FDDI. Under this scheme, incentives upto Rs 50 lakh can be

provided for modernisation of the leather product sector. A provision

of Rs 140 crore has been made for providing such incentives, Ramaswami

said.
