Guest guest
In past Mumbai zoo tried to mate elephants in their captivity which is unsuccessful. The male was young & female was quite old. During the 'Mast' condition, male elephant knock down the mahout who was hospitalized. Recently PAWS team went inspect 'Moonlight Circus' camped in Kalyan, wherein the captive elephants were micro chipped. FYI. Some reports are available on our site www.pawssia.org <http://www.pawssia.org/> & also on CUPA's website www.cupabanglore.org <http://www.cupabanglore.org/> Regards, Nilesh Sandeep kumar jain [jeevdaya] Wednesday, March 04, 2009 9:33 PM aapn Re: RE: (IN): PETA notice to govt on elephant festival There are instances of elephant breeding in captivity.usually Females are kept captives as These can be easily managed.so in absence of Males there is not any breeding .However in Zoos and Circuses Elephants breed ..This needs lot of care and if any elephant breed in capitivity it is as a result of physiological interaction amongst both sexes.I am not in favour of keeping animals in custody and away from its habitat .
