Guest guest
Animals Asia is currently distributing 50,000 bilingual (English and Chinese) Dog & Cat Fur Alert Cards to the Hong Kong general public via Junior Police Club members and through LUSH shops and Olympian City. An e-card version can also be sent via our website: http://www.animalsasia.org/index.php?module=12 & menupos=2 & lg=en & lg=en China exports the vast majority of the world's fur and currently there are no animal welfare laws to protect fur-bearing animals (including domestic dogs and cats) from the most barbaric treatment imaginable. The Animals Asia team have routinely witnessed first hand the horrific conditions that fur animals suffer under, including unbearably small, barren cages, violent handling, inhumane transport and brutal slaughter methods. As we look around Hong Kong today we see so many people wearing fur and have no doubt that they would be horrified to know that they are not only wearing real fur, but that much of this fur is actually cat and dog fur, which is often passed off as faux fur, or labeled with exotic sounding names such as " Siberian wolf " . Many consumers are unaware that they are buying real fur as it is so incredibly cheap and is often dyed unnatural colours. Nor are they aware that the fur industry is so horrendously cruel, and that the fur may well be from dogs or cats. Therefore, we're asking the Hong Kong community to make the compassionate decision not to buy any fur at all. The key message here is; " be a smart shopper - don't buy any fur " .
