WORK DONE BY PFA GHAZIABAD

 

People For Animals Ghaziabad unit has been working in the city for the welfare

and rights of injured and diseased stray animals for past six years. PFA is run

by Smt Maneka Gandhi and PFA's Ghaziabad chapter has recently built up a

shelterhouse for animals in distress in the village Uncha Amirpur NTPC,Dadri.

Right now over one hundred helpless and badly injured stray and abandoned

animals are living at the shelterhouse.

We have to buy feeding material and medicines for their livelihood and hire

caretakers, doctor, sweeper, componder etc for their proper treatment and care.

We dont have any permanent source of funding and the total expenses per month is

-Rs 50000/- to 60000/-. Every month we have to struggle hard to arrange the

feeding material, medicines and salaries of employees. PFA Ghaziabad has done

the following work in past six years:-

 

1- Around 30 bulls, 25 cows, 100 dogs , 10 donkeys, 10 monkeys are treated

every month.

2- Stopped a cattle train that was going to west bengal from kila Raipur Punjab

with 624 cattle inside to be slaughtered, All cows had been sent to registard

Goushalas.

3- Rescued 2 lions and two bears from great golden circus.

4- 15 neelgaye , 3 deer, one Elephant have been rescued.

5- 125 rabbits and 23 sheep have been rescued from Maulana Azad medical

college.

6- 40 rabbits have been rescued from Subharti medical college.

7- around 100 rabbits mice and rats have been rescued from other testing

laboratories.

8- Above 50 monkeys have been rescued from animal performers,many snakes and

mangooes have been rescued from snake charmers.

9- Recently filed a case against jail superintendent of ghaziabad who killed 100

pigeons in the jail premises.

10- Hundreds of cases have been filed against cruel pet owners and against

people who beat or kill stray animals .

 

Dogs those are permanently living at the shelterhouse, most of them are males

and only four are female dogs,these four female dogs are sterlized,All these

healthy dogs are kept free in the hospital ,Dogs who come for the treatment

,they are kept separately. In case of rabbits, male and female rabbits are kept

separately .If someone comes for the adoption of rabbits,We dont give him the

pair of male and female rabbit but only males or only females are given to them.

I am very much intrested in starting animal birth programme but we have a major

problem at the hospital that we don't have electric supply because UP

electricity board is asking for Rs 2.5 lakhs and we are not giving this amount

to them.

We use Generator for the electricity. We have Boring system for permanent water

supply.

Now we have decided to arrange SOLAR SYSTEM at the hospital as it doesn't need a

lot of money, I am planning to do it at the earliest.

Presently We have- Dogs-45, Rabbits-32, Cattle-25,Donkeys- 4, Monkey-1 (on
