`Save Turtles' movement launched

AGARTALA, May 9: Researchers of Ecology & Environment Department,

Assam University, has called upon the students of northeastern states

to join the on-going campaign against the consumption of turtle meat.

The campaign is christened as `Save Turtles' movement.

Functionaries of the department have lambasted the State Governments

of the region saying due to weak enforcement of law, meat of turtle

and tortoise have become one of the favourite delicacies here.
