Guest guest
Wednesday May 24, 2006-The Star WWF offers help over Sipadan reef *KOTA KINABALU:* World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia is ready to help the state government rehabilitate Pulau Sipadan's coral reef that was damaged by a barge transporting construction materials. WWF Malaysia national programme director Dr Dionysius S.K. Sharma said there was indication that Sabah Parks would be calling them in to assess the damaged area, which divers have said were as large as " two tennis courts. " He said the state government was investigating the situation and it would be appropriate for them to go in after a decision was made over the issues of the barge and construction on the island. " We will have to see how we can help in restoration work. Sabah Parks have their own marine biologist and we have ours, and we will support them, " he added.
