Kindly read this on aquariums in KL.

My question is whether it is a good idea to dive and swim together with

sharks. Will it

stress the animal to some extent? Is this a common feature in aquariums

around the world? On what grounds/points can I or the NGO I am with

object to this form of adventure seeking - diving with sharks. Kindly

advise.

A chance to dive with sharks - New Straits Times

13 Jun 2006

KUALA LUMPUR: Underwater adventure-seekers can now dive and feed

sharks and other marine creatures at the Aquaria KLCC.

The aquariam has launched a " Dive with Sharks " programme that allows

adult divers and non-divers a taste of adventure.

Visitors will have the opportunity to come face-to-face with sand tiger

sharks, giant blotched fantail rays, giant groupers and moray eels.

The programme, launched by Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ruslin Hassan

yesterday, will hold three dive sessions daily with a maximum of five

divers per session.

Visitors will have their dives recorded on a DVD and be presented

with exclusive souvenirs and a certificate. Fees are RM450 for non-divers

and RM400 for experienced divers.

The aquarium has recorded 800,000 visitors since its opening 10

months ago.
