Guest guest
Wonderful coming from a Muslim group! Wednesday July 19, 2006-The Star PAS: It's a sin to kill dogs unjustly *KUALA LUMPUR:* It is an Islamic principle not to shoot or kill any of Allah's living creations unjustly, says PAS commissioner Dr Rosli Yaakop of the recent shooting of 13 dogs by the Seremban Municipal Council. " As a party that places emphasis on Islam, we are greatly against cruelty to animals, in this case, pets, be they cats or dogs, " he said. He added that PAS would be submitting a memorandum to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) and the council on Friday to complain about the mistreatment of animals. The memorandum also urges the DVS to probe the incident. " PAS wants the DVS to thoroughly investigate the issue and determine whether the shooting by the enforcement officers was legal or otherwise, " Dr Rosli said. " It is only the DVS that has the power to investigate and take action against these officers if they find them to have mistreated the dogs. " He also said that the shooting incident was the first of its kind in Seremban. Prior to that, no one had really been familiar with the law on animals. Hence, it was only right for the DVS to look into the matter. " As far as I am concerned, in Seremban, every house is entitled to two dogs and any more than that is against the law, " he said. " The case here is 13 dogs, which is by far too many. Even so, action should be taken against the owner, and not the dogs. Shooting the dogs was totally immoral and out of the question. " PAS will help the dog owner, and will ensure justice is served on both the owner and the council. "
