PLEASE BRING FAMILY AND FRIENDS LATEST PICTURES FROM BEIRUT FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS First we would like to thank all of you for the kind support and for your compassionate selves. As you all know, our dog shelter bordered ''Dahyeh'', which has taken the brunt of the attacks. A few nights back, a missile fell 400 meters away from the dog shelter. It left us with no choice but to move our dogs to a safer location as quick as possible. Miraculously, a generous man who owns an abandoned farm agreed to donate the land to us for the time being, allowing us to move our dogs there. And so it was. In the last couple of days, BETA team and a few dedicated volunteers moved the 130 dogs to this new safe location. They were relocated with our cars and one school bus. With every ride we had from old dog shelter to the new one, we were praying to make it there safe and sound. Each car could carry two dogs at a time, whereas the schoolbus could house 14 dogs in one journey. Now the dogs are safe but the new location was in a terrible state of mess, and needs a lot of repair and construction work. It is going to be hard and it will take a lot of time due to the lack of workers and available resources, but at least our dogs are safe. Please check out in the attached link ,the pictures of the new location at first sight, then after some repair work, and the pictures of the dogs being moved: http://beta.beirut.com/viewNew.php?ID=212 Now our next step is to continue the hard works on the new location in order to make it a good and comfortable place for them and of course to pick up any abandoned pet we encouter on the streets and shelter them. Again, thank you for being there for us, it does make a difference! Kind Regards Marguerite Shaarawi, Co-Founder Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA) Beirut, Lebanon Web: http://beta.beirut.com ’'What we want to do is find a permanent paradise for these animals. Yes, I call it paradise because that's what they deserve. They are almost like children who will never grow up and will stay innocent for as long as they live. So a paradise they do deserve.” -O.G.
