Goats brought from a distance of more than two hundred kilometres inside a

dicky rescued by People For animals ,Guwahati,Assam. The goats were brought in

long distance buses inside a dicky, with the engine also with it ,without food

and water ,besides that twenty five of them clustered together and suffocated

without any air and fifthy with their stool and urine.A group of volunteers of

PFA and Honorary Animal Welfare officers of the AWBI ,(govt .of India)along with

their chairperson,Sangeeta goswami rescued the goats at 4.30 pm yesterday,

informed the local the officer in charge of the Jalukbari police station and

tranfered the rescued goats to the PFA shelter home and hospital located at

Hengerabari, Guwahati. The codition of the animals are deplorable ,they will

need a thorough health check up. even after recieving threat calls from the

traders the PFA volunteers promise to carry on their string operations.

Great work - the pressure from the butchers and the police in these

cases can be tremendous. As Mr. Azam Siddiqui has stated in another e-mail,

conditions in the north eastern states of India are truly deplorable and there

is so little concern for animal welfare.
