Guest guest
A fierce encounter took place inside the Kaziranga National Park yesterday morning after a gang of four poachers shot and injured a rhinocerous. A forest guard constable was seriously wounded and has been admitted at the Nagaon Government Hospital. He is presently critical but out of danger. The gun battle that lasted the entire day and was only called off late at night. All four poachers managed to escape, despite a tough fight put up by the forest goards and the police. Senior forest officials believe that poaching activities are on the rise in the state and Rhinos are the most vulnerable soft targets. The poachers have now started attacking with more sophisticated arms. Meanwhile a search is still on to locate the Rhino which is injured inside the park.
