Tiger Skins Seized in Pilibhit

7 August 2006

The Uttar Pradesh forest department seized 2 tiger skins and 1 kg

tiger bone on 5 August 2006.

The skins, which were 10 feet and 11 feet long, were recovered near

the Mala railway station in Pilibhit district, from a man of

Bangladeshi origin. Two other men, also of Bangladeshi origin, managed

to escape.

The Forest Department is carrying out investigations into the source

of the skins and the whereabouts of the two absconders.
