The zoo now has only two tigers, down from nine in July. The cause for the death is unknown; the post-mortem report is yet to be made public. Zoo director Deepak Singh said the tigress, Jyotsna, suffered a ``convulsion'' yesterday. On July 9, a tiger died, followed by a leopard the next day. Another tiger died on July 17. Three days later, a tigress, died. None of the post-mortem reports was made public. Singh, backed by zoo doctor Dinesh Kumar, attributed the deaths to a common disease — babeiosis. ``This disease affects the blood and liver of the animal,'' Kumar said. The tigress that died today, however, did not show symptoms. ``On July 30, we had taken the sample of her blood. But there was no trace of babeiosis,'' said Kumar. manoj.prasad
