Guest guest
Friday September 15, 2006-The Star MP: Relocate Sg Bako crocs to ensure villagers' safety *KUCHING:* Santubong MP Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar wants Sarawak Forestry to relocate crocodiles in Sungai Bako near here to a special site. He said this could be done by catching the bigger crocodiles and looking for the places where the reptiles lay their eggs. " The move will ensure the safety of Kampung Bako villagers, most of whom are fishermen. As there is no bridge to cross the river, villagers have to rely on boats, " he said after handing over RM2,000 to the village operations room. The money is to support the ongoing search for Year Six pupil Mohd Azuan Hatta, who is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while swimming in Sungai Bako nearly two weeks ago. The search was scaled down after police called off last Sunday the operation involving personnel from the marine police, Rela, Marine Department and Fire and Rescue Department.
