The festival is being organised by Centre for Media Studies (CMS), New Delhi, and Global Green Peace – Kashmir, in association with University of Kashmir and supported by ActionAid International and Ministry of Environment and Forests. The two-day event, to be inaugurated by Taj Mohi-ud-Din, the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Jammu & Kashmir, is titled as Kashmir CMS Vatavaran 2006 – Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival. The two days of fiesta brings with it a bouquet of 21 documentary films, some of which have won the coveted CMS Vatavaran awards. Four filmmakers who have made films on Kashmir's environmental issues will be especially present during the festival. Notable Kashmir-based filmmakers Shafqut Habib, also a producer with EMMRC, University of Kashmir and Mr. Shahid Rasool, Director EMMRC will be felicitated during the festival for their passionate portrayal of the issue of Dal Lake in the film " Dal – Looking for Life " and the unique man and nature relationship in a film " Life Under Gondolas " . Premiering in the festival will be films like Syed Fayaz's " A Degree of Concern " , focussing on climate change and Suparna Chaddha's film " When Atlas Shrugged Again " highlighting the ongoing relief work in Uri, the worst hit earthquake area on the Indian side of the LOC. Also to be screened will be the CMS Fellowship film by Prayas, Abhay and Manjushree titled Leaving No Trace…Cyclist in the City.
