Now horoscopes for cattle

Ranchi, Sep 23 (IANS) And now animals will have a horoscope but with a whiff

of science. Horoscope for milk producing cattle is under the serious

consideration of Ranchi's Birsa Agriculture University (BAU).

 

The institute will prepare the horoscope and predict the newborn calf's

potential to produce milk and about its future health.

 

'This will be a scientific horoscope which will be prepared on the basis of

genes and chromosomes of the animals,' said D.K Singh, additional director,

BAU.

 

'The analysis of genes and chromosomes will help the animal husbandry

department to separate the high-milk-yielding animals from the low-yielding

ones. The breeding will be done on the basis of such horoscopes,' he said.

 

Experts say the genes of the animals would help identify its milk-producing

capacity. The weak animals can be kept away from breeding.

 

'The scientific horoscope will help assess the potential milk productivity

of female animals and the fertility of male ones,' said L.B Singh, a

professor of the university.
