Guest guest
Educate, not exterminate-New Straits Times 05 Oct 2006 AZAHAR IDRIS Ipoh -- I AM concerned with the way people in Sarawak have been going after a killer crocodile. Killing crocodiles and cutting them up to look for the remains of the victim is neither the answer nor the right thing to do ( " Dad butchers crocodile in vain " — NST, Oct 3). The number of people killed or maimed by crocodiles is far fewer than those caused by vehicles on our roads. Even the number of people murdered by fellow humans is higher. We do not kill drivers just to solve the problem of the high fatality rate on our roads. So, please, let the crocodiles be. Let us educate our children and our people on ways to avoid them becoming the victim of another crocodile attack. Learn to respect nature as it is. Understanding the ways of the crocodiles will make us more knowledgeable about the dangers posed by them. And thank you, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, for finally ending the hunt for the killer crocodile.
