Guest guest
Hi, for our street dogs to be released after castration and AR-vaccination we require urgently new collars. Who can make a contact to a dog collar manufacturer in India? We want to purchase rolls, not individual collars. We are a small dedicated team working in Trichy/Tamil Nadu under the guidance of IAR. Guest guest
Dear Deike, We have had these collars in rolls made for Animal Rescue Kerala, very recently by a manufacturer in Madras.. They are in polypropylene and can be cut to size and fixed on dogs after spaying/neutering, taking care, ofcourse, to allow for growth of the dog and leaving sufficient allowance if the animal is very young. I would like to stress, however, that this is not a substitute for ear-notching. Not only is it mandatory under the ABC rules - but if the collar comes off a spayed female, it would be totally unethical to open her up again. We do not have this problem with males. Regards. S. Guest guest
Dear Deike, Collars has never been a proper indication for spay/neuter programme here also as per our experience. The disadvantage of collars are : # dogs put on lot of weight after operations it is completely suffocating and severe bruise to the entire neck even inch deep wound is formed and adjusted gaps are never precise. Five year after sterilised dogs I see on the roads are now very very fat. And no size collar will fit in for him or her. # when giving the adjusted gaps for dogs especially for smaller or slim dogs they fall off during their day and night engagements, # during rivalry fights the collars are off or torn away, # while playing the collars are chewed away, # where the municipality is doing the dog catching they would remove these collars , convince dog owners that they would get them sterilised for Rs.60/, then keep these dogs in their house(so they would ask for friendly dogs that they can handle) for two days and put these collars on them and handover to the owners, # the municipality and others just take off these collars and sell for a very few rupees. The best has been ear notching and it is mandatory under the Rules also. Warm regards, Pradeep Kumar Nath, VSPCA, Visakhapatnam, AP.
